Bruce Joyner with Mark Neill and Dave Boyle
initiated the Unknowns in 1980, when moving from Georgia to Los
Angeles; Bruce left by the end of 1982. They reformed in 1991, with Craig
Packam on drums, for a european tour (and New Rose records anniversary
gig), then Bruce left to focus on collaborating with Out Of The Fire, and
also because suffering some health problems. "L'une des raisons pour lesquelles je ne
travaille plus avec les Unknowns est que je voulais faire une musique
originale tout au long de ma carrière alors que Mark Neill et Dave Doyle
ne voulaient pas. J'aime beaucoup ce qui a été crit dans les années
passées et je respecte le rock classique, mais je préfère enregistrer des
choses nouvelles et personnelles. D'autre part, j'adore jouer sur scène,
partir en tournée alors que les autres trouvent ça trop long et ennuyeux."

anymore with the Unknowns is that I wanted to make a more original music
while Mark Neill and Dave Boyle didn't. I love what has been written in
the past, as I respect classic rock, but now I'd prefer recording new
things, more personal. Also, I really love playing on stage and going out

Bruce left the
Unknowns in 1991 after the "Southern Decay" record and tour in France.
Then, Mark Neill (on guitars and vocals) continued the band with David Boyle and Craig Packham : Recordings (more 50's sounding) were made in 1991 [instrumental track "Cigarette Chick" issued on Abus Dangereux CD], but the record initially planned to be issued in 1992 is still unreleased. Together, they kept playing and recording as the Unknowns, in addition to producing & recording other groups with Soil Of The South Music. In 2002, they were expecting to have another Unknowns cd coming out. Eventually, Mark and Craig also played with Rip Carson & Josie Kreuzer at the third High Rockabilly Festival in Calafell Spain in September 2002. | |
