The REAL KIDS : The Band

Typical Boston-based punk-rock band, led by guitarist/vocalist/songwriter John Felice.

John Felice began in the Modern Lovers (he was some 15 years old); he left the band in january of '72 and formed The Kids.

After doing their first show opening for Jonathan Richman & The Modern Lovers, it came to their attention that there was alrerady another group calling themselves The Kids. Jonathan said "Aw, don't worry.., You guys are the Real Kids."
Line-up was quite stable, while John Felice always said another name had to be found for the band when Alpo not in. The gig they gave at The Rat on June, 16th 1983 seemed then to be their last one .... untill 1998. And today, in 2001 - with a new line-up - preparing a tour for 2001.
Still playing in 2003, with two new members: Jimmy Birmingham on drums and Chris Barnard on bass.
a full band tree a la Peter Frame is yet to be built!

meanwhile, here's the lines-up over the years (for side-bands see side-bands)

R.I.P. Kevin Glasheen passed away on May 10, 2011 at home - he was the drummer of the first Real Kids line-up
