The very 1st album, a shock: some tracks became standards, and will follow Suicide along those 30 years. Rocket
the USA is a standard, which had been covered many times, Ghost Rider had been covered again in 1999 by Alan Vega
with Etants Donnés,...). Even after several years of existence, Suicide was the most innovative: then one
of the aspects the more shocking was to make a disc of rock'n'roll, without any guitar, nor drums. On the french
sleeve pocket, Roy Trakin says "I consider Suicide one of the half-dozen most important
acts in rock and roll -like the Doors, The Stones, The Stooges, The Dolls and The Velvet Undergound before them."
Track list (tracks and order) differs from one release to the other : 7 tracks on initial Red Star, Bronze and Demon re-issue. Original Red Star tracklist :
Canadian 1979 Basement tracklist : (one bonus track not on Red Star)
Demon tracklist : ( "issued under licence from Marthy Thau")
track list on 1996 CD re-release Red Star # RS-7001-2 (digitally remastered tracks with 2 extra tracks & a five page booklet which includes an interview with Suicide; original 1977 Red Star sleeve) :

23 Minutes in Brussels
23 Minutes in Bruxelles
|
This official bootleg -quite difficult to find- exists under 2 formats, both in limited edition :
It restores the ambient of a very chaotic concert in Brussels, Belgium (tour supporting bands like The Clash and Elvis Costello for a european tour) : Something began with the song Frankie Teardrop, and soon converts to a full riot, Alan Vega had even his nose broken. Legends are built something like that no? The Brussels' recording has also been re-issued as bonus trackof some CD-reissues, including the last (1998) one (20 years later, see above). "We're all frankies Except Some Belgians" (as stated on the 12" ex.) |

For the twentiest anniversary, first LP has been re released in march 1988: CD 1 with tracks from the first LP, completed by the 2 tracks from the single Cheree, and track Keep your dreams live at CBGB's NYC (not on first issue). CD 2 with live tracks, recorded in 1978, and the famous 23 Minutes over Brussels (see above). That was the opportunity for the band to come back live in London (4 dates : on March, 5, 6, 7 & 8 1998, records actually issed on march 9th) supported by the band Pan Sonic (with whom Alan Vega had worked (see Alan Vega's collaboration page). The booklet presents excerpts of a talk between Alan Vega, Matin Rev with Marty Thau, and the story about 23 minutes over Brussels by Roy Trakin.
