Etant Donnés
|
Recorded as usual at 6/8 Studios in New York, a record by the french Etant Donnés
with guests: Alan Vega, Lydia Lunch (ex-8-eyed spy, Teenage Jesus), Mark Cunningham (Mars,
Don King, Jon Gavanti, Raeo) and Genesis P.Orridge (ex-Psychic TV, Throbbing Gristle, Thee Majesty). The
results is rather sinister : if you consider that Suicide's records were celebrating life, then this one is about
Alan Vega's nightmares ! (or as someone said, they all belong to the "no wave" of the "no wave").
Etant Donnes recorded quite at the same time, and also for Les Disques du Soleil et de l'Acier une second CD with Michael Gira (Swans). Etant Donnes are two french brothers who are generally writing music for (or to fit with) a film they are making or previously made. Their name was choosen from some kind of happening- peep-show- art-exhibit by Marcel Duchamp. |

Future Pilot a.k.a. versus a Galaxy of Sound
|
Future Pilot (a.k.a. Sushil K Dade ex-member of the Soup Dragons
and The Telstar Ponies and current of the BMX Bandits) made a tracks and
then sent them out to a bunch of different musicians like Kim Fowley, Brix Smith (ex-The Fall), James Kirk (Orange
Juice), Alan Vega,... for "deconstruction"... results ("a unique collection of a series of ongoing
collaborations with artists from all around the world") is very interesting.

Christophe
|
Vega's contribution to some Christophe's album may seem strange considering the image of Christophe
-something like traditional french pop singer. That image seems to be false! That LP (after 13 years of silence)
wasn't not a success, maybe precisely because it's rock. Alan Vega contributes to "Rencontre à l'as
Vega", about some poker
game of them (he even said
that Christophe represents his french inspiration).
Rencontre à l'as Vega (Christophe-J.R.Mariani-Alan Vega/ Christophe) Alan - Yes - On fait le ... a little poker - Yes - Voilà - Pass - Passe yes - Coupe - I don't want to cut - Trois cents - Alright, oh fuck I give you a break - Alright I will... - You see - Yes - Hum, non c'est à toi d'parler j'suis d'achats - It's a hard decision - Oui j'te vois - Oh OK OK so you win. - The kind of cards you're giving me here, man, terrible o I pass alright I pass - Ok - Now that's better - T'aurais tendance à fumer, tu vois... - La musique est magnifique - Hé j'te vois - a toi d'parler - Waouh Waouh a couple more inside here too. Another one, thanks baby, just what i needed. Are you passing??? - Donne moi deux cartes. - A paire of nine baby, I'll say two bucks on that one - Two - two bucks - It's not enough, I'll say I say a buck I'll make it easy for you as it's the last game - Oh get out of here... kings of what... six... I got you though - Bien bien bien - You owe me about ten boxs baby - Great - The big game is I owe you a million dollars or something like that - Oh Ok Ok - Am always kidding you know am always kidding - but am not goin' to forget... |

Mercury Rev /
|
"Everlasting Arm b/w Dean man as read by Alan Vega" : this Mercury Rev's 12" EP [white vinyl] (introducing their LP See You On The Other Side) with Alan Vega as special guest for the second track, where he reads -during about 10 minutes- an excerpt from his book Cripple Nation, with Mercury Rev as musical background. The third track -unmentionned on the sleeve- is a recording of Jonathan Donahue children circa 69/71 (about 25 ' of children laughing ans shouting).
