James Luther Dickinson -
From Memphis also, and with Alex Chilton (guitar) he was a founding band member of Panther Burns and also produced further records. Again another New Rose records contributor, e.g. as Mudboy and the Neutrons, or compilation "Down Home (Delta Experimental Projects)"
James Dickinson participates several sessions with the Rolling Stones (he's on Sticky Fingers), Ry Cooder, backed Aretha Franklin, Sam and Dave with his band, the Dixie Flyers, produced Alex Chiltons Big Star's record, Alejandor Escovedo's True Beleivers, Replacements, etc... He actually contributed to what would be called the Memphis Sound, "a gritty blend of gospel, country and southern blues". James Dickinson is one those great cult figures in musical history whose life and stories were bigger than the times themselves.
A CD was issued in 2003 : "Free Beer Tomorrow" on Artemis (made with his 2 sons, Luther on guitar and Cody on drums).
